子贡欲去吿朔之饩羊。子曰，赐也，尔爱其羊，我爱其礼。

白话导读

子贡想把每月初一告朔之礼所用的那只活羊省去。孔子说：赐啊，你舍不得那只羊，我却舍不得那种礼。

1. Tsze-kung wished to do away with the offering of a sheep connected with the inauguration of the first day of each month. 2. The Master said, "Ts'ze, you love the sheep; I love the ceremony."
