微生亩对孔子说：孔丘，你为什么这样忙碌不安、四处奔走呢？莫不是要显示口才、讨人欢心吧？孔子说：我不敢卖弄口才，只是痛恨那些顽固不化的人罢了。

James Legge Translation

1. Wei-shang Mau said to Confucius, "Ch'iu, how is it that you keep roosting about? Is it not that you are an insinuating talker?" 2. Confucius said, "I do not dare to play the part of such a talker, but I hate obstinacy."
