子击磬于卫。有荷蒉者而过孔氏之门者，曰，有心哉。击磬乎。既而曰，鄙哉，硁硁乎。莫己知也，斯已而已矣。深则厉，浅则揭。子曰，果哉。末之难矣。

Modern Chinese Guide

孔子在卫国敲击石磬。有个挑着草筐的人从孔子门前经过，说：这敲磬的人是有心思的啊。过了一会儿又说：真鄙陋啊，这硁硁的磬声！没有人了解自己，就自己算了吧。水深就索性穿着衣服过河，水浅就撩起衣裳过去。孔子说：说得真果断啊！要这样的话，就没有什么难处了。
